  3. How do I login automatically at my email account?

I wanted to know how to login automatically to my email account. So I just want to click the browser icon which should load my email account. Is this possible? I want to save time and avoid signing in each time… even typing the Hotmail address.

Oh yeah, time is money nowadays. And surely a few precious seconds can be saved by either bypassing the Hotmail sign in page or, at the very least, avoiding having to enter the username or the password each time you want to check the email account. Here is how you go about it.

How to automatically login at Hotmail email

Please understand that the instructions below have been worked out in Internet Explorer version 9. The logic is pretty simple and straightforward and, as far as I know, will work on any browser.

To have an automatic login at an email account (or any other web service), first ensure that the chosen browser program can accept cookies and store passwords. Set the email sign in page as the browser’s home page. Then re-launch a fresh window and sign in at the email account making sure you checked the “Remember my password” or equivalent option.

Now the next time you launch the web browser, you will automatically be logged in at the email account. Important: Do not sign out of the service once your work is done.

The steps below will remove the pain of logging in at Hotmail email account each time. You just need to launch the browser to be shown the inbox.

  • Choose Internet Options from the gears icon menu
  • Click Settings button under the Content tab
  • Check autocomplete of usernames and passwords on forms
  • Put Hotmail URL - www.hotmail.com - as the browser homepage
  • Save changes - Click Apply followed by OK
  • Hotmail sign in page loads automatically - its the browser homepage
  • Sign in with user ID and password and check Keep me sign in option
  • The Hotmail inbox is displayed
  • In case of multiple users, you may need to click on your account name
  1. Launch Internet Explorer web browser, click on the ‘gears’ icon and choose “Internet Options” [Slide 1].
  2. Move to the “Content” tab and hit the “Settings” button in the AutoComplete section [Slide 2].
  3. Ensure the “User names and passwords on forms” is checked and click “OK” [Slide 3].
  4. Under the “General” tab, put www.hotmail.com in the text box under home page section [Slide 4].
  5. Click “Apply” followed by “OK [Slide 5].
  6. Close all open Internet Explorer windows and re-launch the web browser. The Hotmail sign in page will be loaded automatically (it’s now the browser home page) [Slide 6].
  7. Enter your user ID and account password. You need to do this only the first time. Check the “Keep me signed in” option [Slide 7] and sign in at your email account [Slide 8].
  8. Close the browser window when done. Do not sign out of the service.
  9. Now whenever you launch Internet Explorer, the browser will automatically login at the Hotmail email account. In fact, you can check two or more email accounts quickly by simply clicking on the one you want on the sign up page [Slide 9].
